Can a human actually survive in a whale??!!

The Holy Book told us that Prophet Jonah was swallowed by a great fish.

The Holy Quran told us that Prophet (Yunus i.e. Jonah) left his people without permission from God so a whale took him by mouth.

So can a human survive in a whale?

I found that answer in “askabiologist.org.uk”:

“What with the immense heat, lack of oxygen, the very strong stomach acid and so on, no human could survive in a whale for anything more than a few minutes. There are apparently authentic accounts of humans recovered from the stomachs of whales (these people were whalers, knocked overboard and swallowed by angry sperm whales), and even having been hacked out of the whale's stomach after just a few hours, they were very much dead, bleached by stomach acid and partially digested. In one case I recall that the headlice on the unfortunate whaler had survived.”

Actually, surviving in a whale can be possible just in one case, if the whale is a (Blue Whale), why?

1- The blue whale which is the largest animal ever, doesn’t have teeth, rather it has baleen plates, which is similar to bristles and is made of keratin (so it wouldn’t bite him).

2- Despite the size of its mouth, the dimensions of its throat are such that a blue whale cannot swallow an object wider than a beach ball.[wikipedia from Blue Planet: Frozen seas (BBC documentary)]

They feed almost exclusively on tiny shrimplike animals called krill, about 1–2 cm (0.4–0.8 in) long as adults. (So blue whale can’t swallow a man).

3- They are mammals breathe oxygen, they are not known to dive regularly to great depths, dive times are typically 10 minutes when feeding, (so the man will not suffer lack of oxygen).

Conclusion:

The Holy Book doesn’t seem so accurate when it tells us that the fish (swallowed) Jonah, because that means he stayed in its stomach which is scientifically unacceptable.

Whereas The Holy Quran uses the verb التقمه (eltaqama-hu) 37: 142 which means literally: “took him by mouth”.

Translators of Quran wrongly translated (eltaqama-hu) to (swallow), swallow in Arabic is “ebtala’a ابتلع”.

That means he stayed in the mouth of the whale, which is logical and compatible with science!

But someone may ask, In the following verses God says, “And had he [Jonah] not been of those who exalt Allah, He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected.” 37: 143-144

Why does God here say (belly) not (mouth)?!

I think –God only knows-because if Jonah didn’t repent and exalt God, he would stay as a “dead body inside whale’s skeleton”, then his body can move from whale’s jaws to ribs spontaneously.

How did I know?

The statement (until the Day they are resurrected) means they will spend a long time after death and the flesh of the whale will decompose (Prophets’ dead bodies don’t decompose) and bones only remains so Jonah’s dead body can move from whale’s jaws to ribs.

God only knows.

This is rather concerned with Arabic language, and the specific meaning of the words. The difference between “took him by mouth” and "swallow" changes the position of John in the blue whale's body. What is stated in Quran is scientifically right. Another victory for Muslims which makes faith in Allah and Islam stable in their hearts, as Allah the Almighty says:
"The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely" - Anfal (2)

You should not worry yourselves unduly about things you do not understand if they cannot be explained away by human logic. God cannot be explained with logic, really you just need faith and except that God is greater than your human understanding and remember... Nothing is impossible with God..... :)

When Non-Muslims read some verses they ask: "How come?" or "We want scientific evidence", and when the modern science discovers the scientific facts of the verses they do not know what say, to agree or disagree. It is enough what Dr.Keith Moore and Dr.Maurice Bucaille said about scientific miracles of The Holy Quran.
Holy Quran remains as a miracle and and encyclopedia of economy, medicine, geography, sociology....etc.
